So I titled this little update as a nod to those naysayers and also as an encouragement to you, my dear readers. If you see something, SAY something. Post it on a forum, ask a friend, etc. There are clear hallmarks every Tesla project has and lots of people who are eager to verify what you've found.
When I rolled by this afternoon to see if there was definitive proof on site yet, I happened to catch the crew at work. They're not really allowed to divulge anything and I wasn't going to put them in an awkward situation, but we chatted a little bit. You'll note there are now 4 large crates marked with the Tesla logo. That confirms that this location will have eight charging slots.
None of them had really seen a Tesla up close. They've installed a TON of these chargers and worked their way from National Harbor, Maryland to Breezewood, Falls Creek/DuBois and others to the Pittsburgh area. They're also bouncing between the Supercharger under construction in Irwin, PA... and in all that time, their main interaction was an owner in Maryland who just wanted to keep a chunk of plywood with the "T" logo spray painted on it.
WHAT?! I've always tried to talk to workers and Jake and I have been demonstrating how the car works to curious construction crews since the first Supercharger was opened in Pennsylvania, with Jake usually bringing donuts or cookies for them.
Anyway-- so I gave them the five cent tour around the car and opened up all the compartments and answered every question they threw at me as honestly as I could. They had never seen one up close or examined it. The encounter was not unlike when I talked to the demolition/construction crews as the Wexford Service Center was being built. Good hard-working people who had never seen up close the cars for which they sweated and bled.
Alas, my car being the non-Autopilot, RWD-only, completely sane un-Ludicrous relic that it is, I didn't bother giving them a ride. It was starting to rain after all the questions were answered so we shook hands and I told them I'd see them again soon (it's just miles from my house). But if anyone can ever take the time to launch a few unsuspecting construction workers from 0-60 in one of Tesla's fastest models... I'm sure that could be worked into a lunch break!
