Progress on the Pittsburgh-area Tesla Service Center has been fast over the last couple months. With the company's name crisply emblazoned across the modernized facade and the garage/bi-fold doors all finally installed, the end is finally in sight as final work continues inside.
Of course, we've been expecting the completion of the work outside for some time now, but when one of my Tesla-buddies texted me pictures of the sign templates being measured and put in place it was... well, a sign that Tesla wasn't hiding behind building permits anymore.
Perhaps accidentally, Dave captured the transformation in color palette between the drab commercial beige of before and Tesla's high contrast grey and white. While the structures are different, the building in his rear view mirror is pretty much the same color scheme as what Tesla started with.
I half-expected the construction crew to just measure and drill holes and leave the signage itself off until closer to the grand opening, but just a few hours later I received word from another local owner that the signs were actually mounted. Then I received another text from my wife with the same update. Then another Tesla-buddy (Jake) posted pictures to our local Facebook group. Then a former employee sent me another message... Yep, message received everybody! Thanks for all the news tips! <ha ha> Good to have a network of friends looking out for me!
The signage itself is a shiny dark grey metal. It doesn't show up well in these pictures, so you'll have to take my word for it. Part of me hoped Tesla would opt to use bright red letters (or even the red/white Tesla "T" logo panel) for a dash of color, but this bi-chromatic look is consistent with the original plans.
Behind the newly installed bi-fold garage door on the western (Route 19-facing) facade is the customer delivery bays. These look to be fully complete with just the final details getting mopped up... see what I did there?
The northern facing main entrance (visible by the glass panes forming a grid in the background) splits the building in half for visitors. The service area will be to the left and to the right is a showroom area. The amount of available floor space is shockingly large compared to what I expected the finished space to look like. While I had been skeptical about two vehicles fitting in here, I am now a believer.
Looks like no new paint colors are coming any time soon if the newly installed color-swatch wall display is to be believed. The dash decor samples are still in their protective plastic and the configuration screen isn't installed yet. Other than some minor details like ACTUAL TESLA VEHICLES, this room is ready to roll!
The service area desks are all ready to go, just missing their computer terminals. For area Tesla owners this is where you'll be getting your routine services done and... well... aside from that you NEVER want to be here.
Additionally, there are four freshly installed HPWCs in the front parking lot and lots of vacant parking spaces for new Teslas. I'd presume the vehicles themselves will arrive end of February... which means the GRAND OPENING you've all been waiting for is most likely going to be in... MARCH. Yes, March-- but it is COMING SOON!
